Inspired by the gleaming metal Tri-Corner Bowl New Mexican sculptor Richard K. Thomas designed for us in 1967, designer Todd Myers created this dinnerware set in stoneware featuring three gentle, sensuous points on plates and soup bowl. Interiors are a soft-sage color and exteriors are black, like desert bushes and their midday shadows. Debuted in Spring 2008, the set consists of dinner plate, salad plate, soup bowl, and mug. The neutral sage color means foods are presented in their own appetizing colors without background distraction. As with other Nambé stoneware pieces, these items can go directly from the freezer to (not preheated) oven and may be placed in the microwave and dishwasher. The Tri-Corner dinnerware collection also includes a serving platter and a vegetable bowl.
Todd Myers came to Nambé in 2005. As Director of Design, he works with our esteemed designers to create new works of beauty and function, as well as developing his own award-winning product for the Nambé brand. Myers' background is design, holding a degree in industrial design from the University of Cincinnati.
A sculptor at heart, Myers is consumed with form, and his designs are definitely "hands-on." Myers approaches design through an intense immersion on how an object should speak to the observer and user through form, materiality, and functionality.
